Bird Year

Bird Year Folks visit Coal Oil Point Reserve September 27, 2007

Members from Santa Barbara Audubon and the Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition met with the Bird Year folks at Coal Oil Point Reserve in Santa Barbara County, California. Malkolm Boothroyd (15 yrs. old), Wendy Boothroyd and Ken Madsen stopped by on their Bird Year Journey which is a twelve month quest to count birds and spread their conservation message. The bird year folks stayed at Bill and Dolores Pollock's house and gave a beautiful photograph presentation about their conservation project and travels. The bird year folks are all avid birders and are biking from the Yukon to Florida. Malkolm was able to add the White-faced Ibis at Devereux Slough to his bird list. He was hoping to see a Least Tern but they seem to have left the area in the last few weeks. We all hope they have a wonderful adventure and keep up the good work.
