Nesting Great Egret at Goleta Slough , June 17, 2007 - There are currently five Pairs nesting.
White-Tailed Kites are regulars at COPR - June 16, 2007 - three of them were flicking their tails up and down.
"Other agnostic behavior is communicated by bobbing the tail up and down. This display can occur more than a hundred times a day in some areas in response to trespassing by a variety of intruders (3)."

Least Terns Sterna antillarum at Coal Oil Point Reserve - June 16, 2007 They are nesting and courting. (note band on right leg).
Eight Least Terns were counted this day. Last year seven Least Tern chicks fledged at COPR. Terns Sterninae
June 17, 2007 - Cris reports that the skunk predation is a continuing problem with the nests and chicks at COPR.
