White-tailed Kites at Coal Oil Point Reserve — June 16, 2007. Three birds repeatedly flicked their tails up and down.
Other agonistic behavior is communicated by bobbing the tail up and down. This display can occur more than a hundred times a day in some areas in response to trespassing by a variety of intruders.

Least Terns Sternula antillarum nesting and courting at Coal Oil Point Reserve — June 16, 2007. Eight Least Terns were counted; the bird on the right was banded. Does anyone know the species of fish? See more on the terns page.
